Tintri targets UK channel growth with fresh funding
Tintri rakes in $125m in funding as it preps for an IPO
Storage vendor Tintri recently closed a $125m (£80.5m) round of funding, which it says will be partly used to aggressively invest in the UK channel.
Tintri – which develops enterprise-level virtual storage solutions – now has a total of $260m in funding. The company said the money would help speed up adoption of its storage solutions.
The funding puts Tintri in good stead for an IPO that it hopes will happen within the next year.
Mike McGuire, chief sales officer at Tintri, told CRN: "This is our latest round of funding with the intent of positioning our company for an IPO.
"But we are also using this money to capitalise our investments in both engineering and expanding our markets through the channel and sales community."
Presently the UK and northern Europe regions – where the business works with disties Arrow and Zycko – account for about 20 per cent of Tintri’s business. McGuire said the vendor is committed to the channel in these regions, and plans to grow its business and invest in these markets.
“We are also extremely excited by the success we have already had with our partnerships, especially in the UK [channel], which is a very strong market for us," he said.
"We have been aggressively investing in the UK market already, and we see the UK and Europe markets as very much a cornerstone to our business and we will continue to invest heavily."
McGuire also suggested that Tintri is gunning for its rival NetApp’s customers who he says would benefit from his company’s solution, even claiming that some of those customers have recently praised Tintri.
He added that the goal is to become "the enabler of the shift of digital to virtualised in all work environments".
Tintri is currently partnered with Proact, R-Com Consulting, ONI plc, Tactile Technology, Teneo, Solid State Solutions, and Frontier Technology.
The company's CEO Ken Klein concluded: "Customers who move from traditional and outdated storage platforms to Tintri are consistently amazed by our performance and simplicity – they never look back."
