Tech Data boosts CSP offering with new appointment
Joel Wilson becomes business development executive for CSP and SPLA programmes
Citing heightened reseller interest in Microsoft's Cloud Solutions Provider (CSP) programme, Tech Data has appointed Joel Wilson as business development executive for the scheme.
In May Tech Data was selected for Microsoft's CSP programme, which aims to increase cloud sales for partners by letting them directly provide customer subscriptions and deliver one monthly bill for Microsoft services and their own.
Wilson's role will also see him work with the team on the Service Provider License Agreement (SPLA) programme, which allows partners to license certain Microsoft products on a monthly basis and to host services and applications.
Mark Whittle, Microsoft business manager at Tech Data, said Wilson's appointment reflects the increased interest in the Microsoft programmes.
"Interest in CSP is growing fast and SPLA is also attracting more enquiries now. We've brought Joel [Wilson] in to ensure we can meet those demands. Tech Data puts the customer first and it is important that we help Microsoft resellers start to understand and benefit from these progressive programmes in every way that we can," he said.
"Tech Data is leading the way in cloud and we have a complete set of education and enablement resources in place. But, of course, we also need good people to work directly with partners, so Joel is a very welcome addition to the team."
Tech Data's European cloud boss, Reza Honarmand, recently hailed Microsoft's CSP programme as a first-of-its-kind opportunity for resellers.
