UK resellers cheer Dell cloud finance push

Dell Financial Services offerings designed to enable customers to adopt cloud 'wherever they are on cloud journey'

Dell partners have welcomed the imminent arrival of more financing options to help them punt cloud solutions from the vendor.

Dell Financial Services announced yesterday it is adding three new payment options for customers and channel partners "commensurate with its cloud solution portfolio growth".

The trio of packages – dubbed Pay As You Grow, Provision And Pay and Scale On Demand respectively – are designed to enable customers to adopt cloud solutions "wherever they are on their cloud journey".

The third option, Scale On Demand, allows customers to pay for cloud solutions as they use them with payments based on actual usage, Dell said.

Jim Findlay, sales director UK & Ireland at Dell Financial Services, confirmed the products are going live next week with details going out to partners in the next two weeks

Malcolm Field, sales manager at Surrey-based Dell partner Krome, said the new financing options are of interest to his firm.

"They have been in contact and have arranged to talk to us about it," he said. "We see this as another string to our bow for us to go into organisations who are concerned about raising finance to upgrade their equipment."

Stuart Rae, managing director of Dell partner Nviron, said it was an "interesting branding" of finance options to purchase capital items such as servers, storage and networking.

"The attraction is the smoothing of lumpy capital spend which can then be aligned with public cloud (AWS, Azure, Openstack and VMware Air) allowing a hybrid deployment on an annuity basis," he said.

Jim Ganthier, vice president and general manager for engineered solutions and cloud at Dell, said: "Only Dell can offer the global programmes and expertise to customers no matter where they are on their cloud journey, and we are now putting in place flexible payment solutions, cloud solutions and services offerings to make hybrid cloud a reality for businesses.

"The majority of customers have declared hybrid cloud as their ultimate end state to control IT costs, gain flexibility and agility, and to deliver new services to meet business requirements. Dell offers the full range of infrastructure, management software, services and payment solutions to help customers realise this strategy."
