G-Cloud sales reach £26m in July
SMEs spend more than £17m on the government framework in July
G-Cloud sales passed £26m in July 2015, up from the £23m made by the government framework the month before.
SMEs accounted for just over £17m (64 per cent) of G-Cloud sales in July. Some 89 per cent of sales went through central government and 11 per cent to the wider public sector.
Overall sales of G-Cloud have hit more than £696m, with 50 per cent of total sales by value, and 60 per cent by volume going through SMEs.
Seventy-six per cent of sales by value have gone through central government in total and 24 per cent the wider public sector over the same period.
The government posted some tips on how to win work on the G-Cloud framework.
In a blog post it suggested those applying to the digital marketplace should spend time on their application, research G-Cloud properly, apply to the framework as a team and understand what the government needs.
It continued that users should also provide a free trial, or offer a discount for commoditised cloud service, and get feedback even if a buyer has not selected an individual’s services.
The post concluded: “If you’re shortlisted but don't win the project, ask for feedback. This will increase your understanding of what public sector buyers are looking for and will help you to adapt your approach or service to better meet buyer needs in the future."
