AVG beefs up RMM solution for channel partners
AVG looking to recruit channel partners with particular focus on broadline distributors
AVG is on the hunt for new resellers after launching an updated version of its remote monitoring and management (RMM) solution.
Part of the upgrade is a new premium remote control, which works across Windows and OS X and is designed to enable MSPs to quickly and easily access their managed devices, transfer files, chat, record sessions and carry out admin tasks from a single interface.
The Czech security vendor, founded in 1991, said the updated RMM solution – Managed Workplace 9.2 – also includes integrated backup and disaster recovery, device management for Mac OS X and integrated antivirus enhancements.
AVG first entered the RMM market following the acquisition of RMM firm LPI Level Platforms, adding 1,500 partners to its global channel.
Talking to CRN, Francois Daumard, vice president of global sales at AVG, said his firm has more than 200 million users globally, meaning that one in five PC owners have AVG security software on their computer.
Daumard said he wants AVG to be just as popular in the RMM market.
"We want to be the leader in security and RMM," he said. "The traditional antivirus and security space is very crowded; you have lots of companies in this space. The RMM space is also fairly crowded, with a lot of good companies in this market too.
"But AVG is uniquely positioned as the only security company that also offers RMM and vice versa. That puts us at the intersection of the two markets and I don't think any other company comes close to us."
Daumard added: “We are recruiting for channel partners, so I want to make it clear that we are open for business. We have seen a lot of interest in our channel here; we certainly have a love affair with the UK.”
AVG – which competes with Kaspersky Lab, Avast and Eset in the security space, and LabTech and GFI Max in the RMM space – is also on the lookout for distributors, Daumard added. Although the vendor works with a number of small disties it is eyeing up broadliners such as Ingram Micro, Tech Data and Avnet, he revealed.
