G-Cloud sales smash £750m barrier

Sales in August range from 1p to £800,000

Total sales through government framework G-Cloud have risen to more than three quarters of a billion pounds, according to the latest data.

Between March 2012 when the framework began, and the end of August, total sales have reached £753.2m. In August alone, sales reached £36m.

The largest G-Cloud deal in August was between NHS North of England Commissioning Support Unit and its customer NHS North Yorkshire and Humber Commissioning Support Unit for £803,125. The second-largest deal was between Beaumont Colson and the Ministry of Justice and was worth £694,986. Amazon Web Services won the deal worth the least in August – it sold 1p worth of services to the Cabinet Office.

To date, more than half (51 per cent) of total sales by value and 60 per cent by volume of G-Cloud sales have been awarded to SMEs. The vast majority (77 per cent) of sales were with central government, and just 23 per cent went through the wider public sector.

G-Cloud is currently in its sixth iteration and the deadline for submitting applications to G-Cloud 7 falls next week. Suppliers will find out if they have made it on 9 November and G-Cloud 7 services are due to go live on 23 November. At that point, all G-Cloud 5 services will be removed from the Digital Marketplace when the seventh iteration takes over.
