Azlan hands services dominion to King
Phil King joins distributor in newly created post
TD Azlan has claimed the appointment of its first technology and services director demonstrates its commitment to growing its services business.
Tech Data's enterprise arm has unveiled former EMC and ETC man Phil King in the newly created role, which will see him take charge of Azlan's Business Solutions Centre (BSC) in Heathrow.
TD Azlan said the appointment shows its commitment to "supporting partners in their continuing development as they adopt the roles of managed services providers, cloud aggregators and integrators of hybrid infrastructures".
King has racked up 15 years' service in the channel, including five years as a sales manager at ETC Distribution and four years in senior business development roles at EMC. He has also worked for vendors Veeam Software, Cisco, VMware, distributor CCD and reseller Esteem Systems.
Most recently, King hiked from Mexico to Canada after vacating his last role as UK business development manager for Canopy Cloud, the cloud solutions business of Atos.
King described the BSC as an "extremely valuable resource" for partners to develop virtualised and software-defined solutions.
"With this unique collection of resources, Azlan is in an unrivalled position to lead the way in accelerating adoption of new technologies and business transformation for VARs, and to pioneer the new, more dynamic and integrated approach to value-added distribution that will be required to fuel growth for our vendor and reseller partners in this exciting new era," he said.
Sarah Deller, Azlan Software director, said: "The Technology Practice is at the very centre of our value proposition and Phil will lead our strategy here to build differentiated market solution propositions, underpinned by strong capability, enablement and a high value profile in the software-defined datacentre, desktop and mobility arenas, ensuring specialist aligned resource through business development, pre-sales and delivery."
