Mancunian VAR revs up for US Grand Prix

IT support provider's bespoke monitoring system will be used at this weekend's race in Texas

A Manchester-based IT support firm is playing a cameo role at this weekend's US Grand Prix after bagging a deal to supply and run the event's track safety camera systems.

BitSol Systems' bespoke monitoring set-up is being used for the sixteenth race in the 2015 Grand Prix calendar, which will take place in Austin, Texas on Sunday.

Its cameras (a shot from which is pictured) and IT support systems will be used for safety and crash monitoring, as well as by the racing teams to analyse their performances throughout race weekend.

Founded in 2012, BitSol provides server, desktop, remote, hosting and security support to UK SMEs. Its vendor partners include Datto, GFI, 3CX, HP, Apple, Cisco and Microsoft.

It installed a similar track monitoring system for Moto GP and said it is in talks with other sporting organisations.

"We have been working with the teams in Texas for the past two years now, which is amazing and we're pleased to be working with them again this year," said Gregory Buchanan, technical director at BitSol.

"We are also expanding our track safety camera services into other track sports at the moment, which is fantastic news. Our team has already been out to Texas to set up the system and will be returning again fairly soon."

Roy McCullough, director at BGN Technology, which partnered with BitSol on the contract, said: "It has been fantastic working with BitSol Systems over the past couple of years, with them implementing their unique track surveillance cameras. They are an incredibly responsive team with an in-depth knowledge of networking, IT and setting up camera systems for trackside."
