Nuix signs Infinigate for mainstream push

Cyber forensics vendor looks to push into midmarket with first-ever distribution signing

A cyber forensics vendor that counts the SEC, HMRC and the Serious Fraud Office among its customers has appointed distributor Infinigate to help it go "mainstream".

Nuix begins working with Infinigate in the UK today to help take its investigation, cybersecurity, intelligence and eDiscovery technology beyond the government and law enforcement agencies it has traditionally served.

The appointment comes after Nuix launched its Corporate Investigation Suite, a product bundle designed to make end-to-end digital investigation capabilities accessible to non-technical users.

Michael Young, head of global channel at Nuix, told CRN: "The explosion in the volume and diversity of data - and the need for everyone to protect themselves and investigate internal and external threats - means Nuix is becoming relevant to a wider audience.

"We've gone away and in the last few months have launched our Corporate Investigation Suite, which allows IT generalists to interrogate their data and respond to events. So now we have an offering and a proven distribution partner that can help take Nuix mainstream."

Alex Teh, joint UK managing director at Infinigate, predicted his firm will generate at least £3m in revenues with Nuix in the first year of the partnership alone.

Nuix represents a break from the norm in the cyber-forensics market, which most partners have found impenetrable, Teh claimed.

"Nuix's user friendliness was really attractive, on top of its reporting capabilities," he said. "We test everything before we launch and one of my techies said it is like their forensic tool is crossing paths with the SIEM technologies that never quite got there."

Nuix will slot into Infinigate's UK portfolio alongside fellow cyber forensics vendor Guidance Software and Teh (pictured) said technology of this ilk will be in hot demand following last month's TalkTalk debacle.

"If I'm the CEO of TalkTalk and I've been breached for a third time, I'm going to want to know why and technologies like Nuix are able to forensically investigate these incidents," he said.

"We have worked with two vendors in the space quite harmoniously in the past and will be running with both technologies as they both have their strengths."

Founded in 2000, Nuix claims to have about 50 partners in EMEA - including UK players Voodootec and Avatu. Inifingate is its first ever distribution signing.

"The next step is to take this to the midmarket enterprise and to do that we need a wider channel with different skills to the traditional police and government sectors Nuix has been strong in," Teh said. "Finance, banking and insurance are going to be huge."
