Unify snapped up by Atos

Unify hails its channel model and claims deal will take it to "new levels"

Unify has been acquired by Atos in a move it claims will take the business to "new levels of success".

Unify has been on a channel push in recent months and back in May, the firm's channel director, Jon Pritchard, said the company would "never go back" to its direct sales model.

The Gores Group and Siemens own Unify, which is a unified communications firm that operates in Europe and the Americas.

Alec Gores, CEO of The Gores Group, talked up Unify's channel credentials and hinted that the change in ownership would not change the strategy.

"Together we invested in innovation, rebranded the company, recruited an impressive management team, and transitioned the business to a channel-driven, software-first company," he said. "We believe Unify is well positioned to take the business to new levels of success and performance with the support of its new shareholder."

The deal is subject to approval from employee representatives and certain regulatory bodies and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2016.

Atos CEO Thierry Breton said: "The contemplated acquisition of Unify will increase our offerings for the digital transformation for our customers. They are looking for seamless services solutions for their entire digital portfolio and a reliable partner that can service their needs end-to-end. Unify's portfolio and customer base is a perfect match that uniquely complements existing Atos digital capabilities."
