Veritas and Azlan team up in Europe

Newly single information-management vendor appoints Azlan following distie rejig

Veritas has signed a pan-European distribution deal with Azlan, just weeks after it revealed it has slashed its EMEA distie contracts by more than two thirds.

At its partner conference in Monaco two weeks ago, Veritas execs admitted the company has recently cut the number of EMEA distie contracts it had by 70 per cent, although it would not be drawn on how this played out with specific vendors in individual regions.

Today, it announced a pan-European deal with Azlan, which will see the distie take its kit to market in 13 countries across the continent.

Veritas operationally split from Symantec in October and the duo will be formally divorced on 1 January. The former will focus on information management while security will be the main focus for Symantec.

The Azlan deal, which is effective immediately, will see the distie offer Vertias software solutions as well as SaaS offerings, which will be sold through the Tech Data Cloud.

Simon England, Azlan Europe's managing director, said teaming up with Veritas is good news for its channel.

"Veritas is an iconic brand that is synonymous with world-class software products and innovation," he said. "It is a name that end-user customers trust and presents very significant growth potential to reseller partners in all sectors of the market.

"We will be working with Veritas to build on and enhance the company's reputation and develop and grow its partner sales."

Veritas' vice president for EMEA channels Gareth Hansford agreed and added that working with Azlan will help his firm "successfully execute our growth and development plans across the region".
