University hunts for VAR for £1m storage deal

Partners of EMC, NetApp and Cleversafe considered

The University of Derby is on the hunt for an IT supplier to provide it with a storage solution which could be worth up to £1m.

In a recently published tender document, the institution outlined its plans to procure the storage solution, which will be used to meet its current and future requirements of unstructured and archived data.

The deal will run from the end of January 2016 to the end of November 2021. Over the period, the contract will be worth between £250,000 and £1m.

"The university wishes to procure a cost-effective scale-out or hybrid storage solution," the tender said.

"Solutions such as Scality, Cleversafe, Ceph, Gluster, EMC Isilon, NetApp Clustered Data Ontap or equivalent products will be considered. Solutions utilising cloud resources to manage older data such as Microsoft StorSimple or equivalent products will also be considered."
