Security VAR Imerja snapped up by Intercity
Check Point, Juniper and Extreme Networks partner acquired for undisclosed amount
Imerja has become the latest security VAR to be snapped up by a bigger player, with unified comms player Intercity securing a deal for it today.
Founded in 2004, Imerja is a security services specialist which partners with Check Point, Juniper and Extreme Networks and is on a number of public sector frameworks including G-Cloud. For the six months to 31 July, Imerja's sales were £5m, according to documents filed on Companies House.
The deal is the latest in a string of takeovers of security VARs this year, with Accumuli having been bought by NCC Group, Sysec succumbing to Herjavec Group and Intellect Security selling up to Metaphor IT.
Following the deal - for an undisclosed amount - all Imerja staff, including senior management will be retained, a company statement said.
Ian Jackson, managing director of Imerja, said: "Imerja has established itself as a reliable and trusted partner to the customers we serve. Our ability to provide a range of infrastructure and security services into the public and private sector is the envy of the industry and is all thanks to the commitment of everyone who works within the business.
"Being part of Intercity Technology will provide us with range of mobility and communications solutions to sit alongside our existing IT services; we are extremely excited to be a part of the Intercity Technology business."
Andrew Jackson, CEO of Intercity, said: "I'm delighted to welcome Imerja to the Intercity Technology family. Imerja brings a deep expertise in IT managed services and security, which allows us to offer our customers complete technology solutions across IT and telecoms. There is a strong cultural fit between our businesses and like us they focus on service excellence and technical knowledge to differentiate in the market."
The acquisition follows Intercity's deal for network services and hosting player Gage Networks earlier this year.
