Exertis makes Irish acquisition

Acquisitive distributor buys arm of Espion

The technology distribution division of Anglo-Irish firm Espion has become the latest purchase of aquisitive distributor Exertis.

The deal, for an undisclosed amount, will see the Espion unit become part of Exertis Ireland.

Espion director and head of technology, Jim Lehane, will join Exertis but "will continue in his role leading the [Espion] team", a company statement said.

Vendors in Espion's technology division include Tintri, Fortinet and SimpliVity.

Headquartered in Dublin and London, Espion also has offices in Edinburgh, Manchester, Belfast, Brussels and New York and employs 85 consultants.

The deal will not affect any of Espion's other divisions the company claimed.

Exertis, which is part of DCC, hit sales of €3.4bn for its last financial year ending 31 March 2015.

In May Exertis bought fellow distie Computers Unlimited for £24m to boost its presence in the French market.
