SCC launches public sector managed print assault
New dedicated division unveiled
SCC is aiming to grab more public sector managed print business with a new dedicated unit.
The creation of a new public sector division for managed print services (MPS) comes almost two years after SCC acquired managed print reseller M2.
The announcement also comes on the back of a recent MPS win with Devon County Council. SCC's success on two Lots tendered by the authority will see it provide and maintain 550 devices and become the preferred supplier of MPS to local authority, education, healthcare and EMC organisations in the county.
SCC claimed its MPS business has enjoyed "unprecedented growth" over the last 18 months and re-iterated the fact that it recently announced a £1.5m investment to double M2's salesforce.
M2 chief executive John Taylor said: "The creation of a dedicated public sector division opens up different routes to market - and is particularly good timing with all major frameworks due for renewal in the next 18 months.
"As print and IT converge, we now represent a real competitive edge to organisations as part of SCC's broader managed services portfolio.
SCC, which bills itself as Europe's biggest independent IT services business with revenues of £1.55bn - said its strong suit on MPS is its ability to offer customers independence because it can service multiple fleets.
"In the case of Devon County Council, SCC had to solve the main challenges around managing a multi-vendor fleet of MFDs and printers, requiring pedigree, local and national capability, and a strong overall MPS business," Taylor added.
