Softcat gets paws on £6m NHS deal

Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust signs up reseller for software deal

Softcat has won a multimillion-pound deal to supply software to a London NHS trust.

The reseller was picked by Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust as a supplier for its Software Channel Partnership, according to a recently published contract award.

The deal will be worth up to £6m and will see Softcat supply the NHS Trust with licence-management software packages.

"The contract is for a software channel partner to act as the trust's preferred reseller for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications, licence renewals, and associated support and maintenance arrangements," the contract-award notice said.

Two companies bid for the business, and Softcat was selected.

Price was the main factor the trust considered in picking Softcat, but management skills and systems were also looked at, along with relevant experience and compliance.

In a statement sent to CRN, Softcat sales director Jamie Burke said: "Softcat has an excellent track record of providing innovative solutions that deliver significant ROI and drive efficiencies for clients within the healthcare sector.

"We are genuinely excited to be awarded the opportunity to develop a long-term partnership with a Trust as well respected and forward thinking as Guy's and St Thomas'."
