Avnet poaches former Tech Data and Ingram boss

Appointment of Marcus Adae to new EMEA role designed to cement ties with top vendors

Avnet Technology Solutions has enlisted a distribution heavyweight in an effort to strengthen its relations with its core vendors across Europe.

Marcus Adae (pictured) will assume the newly created role of EMEA vice president for core suppliers and technology groups at the pan-global distributor.

The Munich-based executive, who will report to EMEA president Graeme Watt, was most recently vice president of Ingram Micro's central region and was previously managing director for Germany at Tech Data.

Adae's role will be to bolster Avnet Technology Solutions' ties with its key vendors in EMEA, working closely with EMEA VP of strategic development and planning, Dieter Lott.

"Marcus's appointment creates incremental bandwidth and emphasis to align with our core suppliers and co-ordinate sales programmes and business development initiatives through the EMEA region," said Watt.

"In parallel, the appointment enables us to further focus on customers, particularly in high-growth segments, and deliver a clear value proposition around our solutions and services for next-generation technologies. Marcus is highly regarded in the IT distribution market and we welcome him as an integral member of the Avnet TS EMEA executive team."
