VAR Millennium takes 'massive step' into Wales
Reseller recently won a place on big Welsh framework
Reseller Millennium Business Systems has appointed a director to spearhead its growth in the Welsh public sector as it prepares to open an office in the country.
The Wokingham-based reseller's headcount is currently about 50 and it is looking to hire three more staff to help run its Welsh operations.
Former Computacenter man Daniel Morris has been appointed by the reseller as Wales contract director to mark its arrival in the country.
The reseller recently won a place on a Lot of a massive Welsh IT products and services framework and is looking to build on this in the future.
Morris told CRN that having a local Welsh presence will be a boost for Millennium.
"It is a massive step," he said. "We wanted to get on this framework and put all [our] resources into it. We realise that if you look at Wales as a whole, the amount of users and potential customers [is huge].
"There are 78 organisations signed up to this framework and the Welsh Government looks favourably on those organisations using them. When you see the Welsh public sector is putting their efforts into trying to get people to use the framework, now it is a case of us being able to maximise this and make sure they are using Millennium."
Morris joined Millennium from Computerworld Group where he was sales manager for a year. Before that he spent seven years at Computacenter.
He said that his experience working in Wales will hold him in good stead.
"Wales is a very dear place to my heart as I have worked here for the past 12 years," he said. "For me, seeing the opportunity for Millennium to grow, and for the Welsh public sector business to grow [is great]. We will try to make sure the customers are as supported as best they can be."
