Computacenter exits Blackfriars Road for office makeover

Reseller calling Swan Lane office home temporarily

Computacenter has temporarily left its base on Blackfriars Road while it gives the office a makeover.

The office (pictured) closed at the end of last week and will be refurbished during the year. In the meantime, staff at the company will be based across the river at an office on Swan Lane.

Computacenter has been based at the Blackfriars Road office, named Computacenter House, since 1990, when the location became the largest PC outlet in Europe.

The company has updated its website to give details on how to get to the new base, which it has dubbed "Blackfriars@SwanLane".

Staff moved into their temporary home yesterday. Colin Williams, Computacenter's chief technologist for networking, security and unified comms, took to Twitter and praised the move.

"First day at Blackfriars at Swan Lane. Well done to Kevin Graham [Computacenter's head of facilities] and the team. Everything just works," he tweeted.

Blackfriars Road and the surrounding area is in the midst of a large regeneration project, with a number of new developments under construction. The so-called Cycle Superhighway is also planned along a stretch of the road.

Computacenter's head office is in Hatfield and it has local UK branches in Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Reading, Nottingham and Sheffield.
