Carly Fiorina drops out of White House race
But the former HP boss vows to keep on campaigning for the causes she stands for
Former HP boss Carly Fiorina has called an end to her presidential campaign but said she will carry on campaigning for the causes she stands for.
In a brazen post on her Facebook page, Fiorina said she was standing down from the presidential race.
"This campaign was always about citizenship-taking back our country from a political class that only serves the big, the powerful, the wealthy, and the well-connected," she said. "Election after election, the same empty promises are made and the same poll-tested stump speeches are given, but nothing changes.
"I've said throughout this campaign that I will not sit down and be quiet. I'm not going to start now. While I suspend my candidacy today, I will continue to travel this country and fight for those Americans who refuse to settle for the way things are and a status quo that no longer works for them."
It was an up-and-down campaign for the former HP boss, as she impressed in early debates and was at one stage reportedly second in the race. But she was attacked by the bookmakers' current Republican nomination favourite Donald Trump over her record at HP.
In the end she only managed less than two per cent of the votes in the Iowa Caucus, according to reports.
