IT Lab gets chequered flag from McLaren

MSP set to become official technology services provider to F1 giant

IT Lab has signed a multi-year contract with racing giant McLaren to provide technology support services at its Surrey-based technology centre.

The contract win forms part of IT Lab's growth strategy after it snapped up Manchester-based firm JMC IT last year.

The McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) houses the outfit's Grand Prix racing team, sports and supercar production and applied technologies business, employing more than 3,000 people.

Under the terms of the deal, IT Lab will offer around-the-clock IT support services to all employees, including those based in key overseas markets such as the US and Singapore.

Craig Charlton, CIO at McLaren, said: "Having already worked closely with IT Lab, it's clear that they share with McLaren a strong commitment to optimising performance.

"IT Lab understands that for a technology company like McLaren that has thousands of employees engaged in mission-critical operations, where time and agility are essential wherever people are in the world, the delivery of IT support for the business has to be seamless and efficient."

Peter Sweetbaum, chief executive of IT Lab, added: "We understand and respect the exacting standards and expectations of a high-performance organisation such as McLaren. We are extremely proud that our team has more than met these expectations, culminating in this formal partnership.

"Technology now plays a role in every organisation, few more centrally than McLaren. Our mission is to ensure that every McLaren employee receives the very highest-quality support, wherever they are and whenever they need it."
