Extreme Networks swipes Cisco exec to run channel

Gordon Mackintosh tasked with developing the Extreme Partner Network globally

Networking vendor Extreme Networks has poached former Cisco executive Gordon Mackintosh to run its global partner programmes.

Mackintosh held a range of sales and channel leadership roles at Cisco, including a stint heading up the networking giant's UK distribution and SMB strategy.

In his new role of senior director of worldwide partner programme and sales business development, he will now be responsible for developing the Extreme Partner Network and providing partners with "new revenue streams and growth opportunities".

Mackintosh, who is a Scott by birth but is now based in California, will work directly with executive vice president of worldwide sales, services and channels Bob Galt.

Galt described Mackintosh's arrival as "perfect timing" given the NASDAQ-listed vendor's decision to overhaul its technology and channel strategy last year to become more focused on software and services.

"His extensive background in sales and channel leadership will bring our worldwide team unmatched guidance in our expanding channel efforts and I'm thrilled he'll be a part of ensuring partner growth and success," he added.
