Atherton joins Centerprise in commercial role

Two months after leaving Exertis, former Enta boss Jon Atherton takes on new challenge

Jon Atherton has resurfaced in the channel, taking on a commercial role with Centerprise International (CI), two months after he left a similar role at Exertis.

The past four months have been ones of continuous change for the channel veteran (pictured), who left his role as vice president of Entatech last March after 22 years at the helm and took up a commercial development director role at Exertis, which he then left in January.

His new role will be to maximise Centerprise's branding and exposure within the channel, Atherton explained, along with all PR and marketing, and driving specialised sales channels.

He said: "I am very much looking forward to the challenge and what the role presents in ensuring myself and the business continue to support and grow our existing and new vendors.

"With the financial stability of CI, the continued growth of the group, the opportunity presented to me and the appetite by the board for potential acquisitions... and the persuasion of Rafi [Razzak], it was an opportunity I couldn't turn down."

Garry Stevens, CEO of Centerprise, added: "Jon is a well-known, respected personality within the channel. With his experience and success spanning over 25 years and his unique ability to spot new opportunities, we are very excited by Jon's appointment as a CI director. The group over the last three years continues to go from strength to strength [and] Jon is one of a number of new key appointments."
