Azlan swells senior management team

Distributor poaches former SCC man as head honcho Rob Tomlin pushes for growth in three key areas

Two channel veterans have joined the management team of Azlan as the firm pursues its three-pronged growth strategy for 2016.

The distributor is placing its bets on three key areas of the market this year: the software-defined datacentre, workspace mobility and information, and big data.

To continue its focus and deepen existing relationships with key vendors in these spaces, the firm has appointed Peter Spreadbury as director of software, and Simon Bennett as business unit director for IBM, Dell/EMC and Lenovo Enterprise.

Spreadbury joins Azlan from SCC, where he spent 13 years working as director of vendor alliances, and more recently software director. His new role will include managing the relationships with vendors such as VMware, Veritas, Citrix, Nutanix and Atlantis.

Bennett has worked at Azlan for the past seven years, most recently as general manager of sales, and his vendor stable will include IBM, Dell, Lenovo, Avaya and Brocade.

Tomlin, who was appointed as managing director of Azlan in January, said: "We are bringing Azlan together as one team with one vision and as a value distributor that is fully equipped and ready to work with VARs, systems integrators and MSPs to deliver advanced hybrid solutions to end-user customers.

"Both Simon and Peter have a wealth of knowledge and experience in the market and a deep understanding of partner needs. They will make vital contributions as Azlan advances its strategy and works to extend its market-leading position and take value distribution into a new dimension."

The distributor also revealed it will be making further investments in its technology and services practice under the leadership of Phil King, and will be encouraging more collaboration across its teams.
