Chess snaps up Lanway
Combined entity will have 550 staff
Chess has acquired fellow northern reseller Lanway in a move it claims will maximise its talent, knowledge and experience.
Cheshire-based Chess has made a number of acquisitions in the last few years, including IRW Systems, Parachute IT, Compwise Systems - the carrier services arm of Calyx - and the business telecom assets of Businesscoms Consultancy.
Chess chief executive David Pollock said today's acquisition of the Burnley reseller is great news.
"Lanway shares our passion for delivering technological advantage to customers, and our acquisition of Lanway is another step on our growth journey, helping to bring our vision to life," he added. "Together with Lanway's expertise, we have the talent and technology needed to deliver truly integrated solutions across enterprise, mobile and cloud environments."
Lanway has been in business for more than 25 years and generated turnover of £21.8m in the last 12 months. Including Lanway, Chess will have 550 staff.
Richard Btesh, director of Chess, added that the acquisition "shows other potential sellers in the telecoms, data and ICT sector that Chess remains the stand-out choice for those selling all or part of their business".
