NG Bailey completes £2m Birmingham City University deal

Physical security overhaul designed to provide staff and students with high level of security on campus

NG Bailey's IT Services arm has completed a £2m physical security project for Birmingham City University designed to provide staff and students on its campus with the "highest level of security".

The contract, completed over 18 months, saw NG Bailey install a 150-circuit intruder alarm system, 16 video intercom units and 170 networked IP-CCTV cameras across the campus. They are designed to give a full view of the entire site from a new centralised security control room.

The system is deployed on a Cisco dual-core switch network with 92 Cisco edge switches, 4,500 cat6 outlets and 28 uninterrupted power supplies.

The £2m project is the second phase of a "technical redevelopment initiative" at Birmingham City University.

Phase one, a £1.2m project completed at the end of 2014, saw NG Bailey deliver a "state-of-the-art" IT installation at the university's Institute of Art and Design.
