Exertis rebrands Computers Unlimited

Apple specialist to retain 'Unlimited' name as it legally transitions to become a division of Exertis UK

A year after buying it for £24m, distribution giant Exertis has rebranded Computers Unlimited as Exertis Unlimited.

Effective from today, the Apple specialist has legally transitioned to become a division of Exertis UK.

Under its new moniker, the distributor will continue to offer products and accessories for Apple, smart home technology, products for creative professionals and audio products.

Two of Computers Unlimited's top brass left the business in November, six months after Exertis acquired the £140m-revenue firm.

Its contribution helped propel Exertis' revenues up four per cent to £2.44bn in fiscal 2016, despite parent DCC Group branding it a "difficult year" for its technology distribution business.

Gerry O'Keeffe (pictured), Exertis UK and Ireland managing director, said: "Since the acquisition of CU, we have had the opportunity to work together, leveraging the skills and product categories of both companies. Exertis Unlimited becomes a key business unit that complements our strategy of providing specialism and expertise right across the technology sector for a diverse set of customers."

Tony Taylor, chief operating officer of Exertis Unlimited, added: "By retaining the Unlimited name, we're recognising the unique culture, values and skills that have been built over the last 30 years. It's also a strong statement to our vendors and customers that we will continue to offer the services and support that they have enjoyed, enhanced by the reach and resources of Exertis."
