TSG's Cox makes a move to Chess

Steve Cox starts new role on Monday

TSG's chief operating officer Steve Cox is leaving the company to take on the same role at Chess.

Cox (pictured) begins his new role on Monday, when he will be charged with helping steer the company towards selling new technology.

"Chess are evolving the business more into IT services and they're quite an acquisitive company," he told CRN.

"I'm looking at how they make that move into selling newer technology in the new world and part of my role is to go in and help with that, integrate acquisitions, and align their operations more towards the modern world of computing."

Chess snapped up Lanway last month, the latest in a string of acquisition in the last few years, including IRW Systems, Parachute IT, Compwise Systems - the carrier services arm of Calyx - and the business telecom assets of Businesscoms Consultancy.

Cox had been at TSG for almost seven years, during which time the company acquired the likes of Aegis IT and Open Systems Services.

Cox said he won't be directly replaced.

"Basically, I've done all the integration and restructuring from all the acquisitions of the business and got the operations team working well. It was time for me to take on a new challenge," he added.
