FireEye appoints new northern Europe vice president

Appointment comes after security vendor changed its CEO last month

Network security vendor FireEye has appointed Adam Bangle as vice president for northern Europe.

Bangle joins from big data company Splunk where he was vice president of EMEA, having previously spent nearly 10 years in a number of senior positions at RSA.

"FireEye is clearly committed to protecting against advanced cyberattacks on a global scale, and I'm very excited to be given the chance to draw on all my experience around developing sales opportunities, operations and delivery," said Bangle.

"I can't wait to start forming new customer partnerships, as FireEye continues to expand throughout Europe and the rest of the world."

Bangle will start the newly formed role immediately and report to president of EMEA Richard Turner.

"We're very excited to have Adam on board and take up his new position heading up Northern Europe," said Turner.

"Advanced cyberattacks are one of the single biggest challenges facing businesses globally and Adam's insight and experience will be a valuable asset as FireEye looks to place cybersecurity firmly at the top of the boardroom agenda and solidify its position as an industry leader."

In Q1 this year FireEye lowered its projected revenue for 2016 from between $815m and $845m to a range of $780m to $810m. Following the announcement CEO Dave DeWalt stepped down and was replaced by Kevin Mandia.

The quarter also saw the acquisition of threat intelligence firm iSIGHT Partners for $299m, which FireEye claimed would create the "most advanced and comprehensive private cyberthreat intelligence operation". The iSIGHT acquisition followed the takeover of end-point security firm Mandiant in 2014.
