NetApp crowns new EMEA boss

Alexander Wallner praised for 'indomitable conviction that NetApp can win'

NetApp has promoted its CEMA general manager Alexander Wallner to the role of EMEA boss, following the retirement of NetApp veteran Manfred Reitner.

Wallner (pictured) will become the storage vendor's senior vice president and general manager for EMEA on 1 August, moving on from the role of general manager for central and eastern Europe and the Middle East (CEMA). Prior to that, he led the company's German business from 2009 to 2013. He joined NetApp in 1999.

Reitner, who has been at the vendor for 20 years, taking on a variety of roles across the EMEA channel, is set to retire.

NetApp has undergone a number of changes recently. It snapped up flash firm SolidFire earlier this year as it pushes harder on the technology and it has recently rejigged its EMEA business. It told CRN earlier this year that it plans to lean more and more on its distributors.

Wallner received high praise from Henri Richard, NetApp's executive vice president for worldwide field and customer operations.
