Dog charity sniffs out IT pro volunteers

Forever Hounds Trust rescues greyhounds and lurchers and is on the lookout for dog-loving techies to help run its IT systems

A dog charity is looking to collar experienced techies to volunteer to help keep its IT systems running smoothly.

The Forever Hounds Trust recues and rehomes greyhounds and lurchers (two of whom are pictured below at the charity's recent birthday party) who are unwanted or have been abandoned or abused. The charity's team works remotely across the UK and replies on email and shared IT systems to operate.

IT support volunteers are sought by the charity to help resolve day-to-day issues and virus problems with its PCs and laptops, as well as providing support and advice. The dog-loving techies will need a good understanding of IT systems - particularly Office 365 - and be able to volunteer regularly on a flexible basis.

Forever Hounds Trust's chief executive Rachel Grocott said: "Our trustees, staff and volunteers all work remotely and rely massively on email and shared IT systems so this really will be a key role within our national volunteer team, offering a first point of call for technical support and advice.

"If you think you could help, we'd love to hear from you. We're so grateful for the support of our volunteers - we couldn't do what we do without them. In return, you'll find that this is a really friendly, family team to be part of and knowing that you've helped to home a dog - making such a positive difference to their life and that of their new owners - is immensely rewarding."
