Dell EMC deal to close next Wednesday

So-called day one will happen on 7 September

Dell and EMC have announced that the "historic" transaction to combine the companies will happen next Wednesday.

From Wednesday 7 September, Dell and EMC will operate as one company, the duo said this evening. Last week one of the final hurdles - approval from Chinese authorities - was cleared.

Dell's UK channel boss Sarah Shields told CRN last week that the green light from China meant other loose ends could be tied up before so-called 'day one'.

Michael Dell said today that next Wednesday would be "historic" for both companies.

EMC will be known as Dell EMC when the deal closes, with the Dell name remaining in place for its PC and consumer businesses.

The overarching company will be named Dell Technologies. A combined Dell EMC partner programme will be launched on 1 February next year.
