Softcat hires 78 employees in largest recruitment push to date

Reseller raises headcount to 1,000 in latest hiring splurge

Softcat has taken on 78 new members of staff today, pushing its headcount past the 1,000 mark.

The VAR's new hires are mainly graduates, who are joining its graduate scheme to go into sales, technical and administrative roles within the company.

The new employees will be working in Softcat's six UK offices, in Marlow, London, Bristol, Manchester, Leeds and its new office in Glasgow, which it opened in June.

The new staff members will have three weeks of training at the VAR's Marlow headquarters before moving to one of the regional offices.

This is the largest recruitment round for the VAR to date. Softcat has been on a recruitment push in the past five years, increasing its employee numbers from 400 to 1,000 over that period.

A recent hiring splurge saw the VAR - which was named best workplace in this year's Great Place to Work list - add 23 employees to its apprenticeship scheme.

Martin Hellawell, Softcat CEO, said: "It's exciting to be welcoming a record number of people into the company today. Attracting and recruiting bright, enthusiastic and passionate people is a cornerstone of Softcat's success and something we put a lot of effort into getting right. The IT industry is an exciting and dynamic place to work and I'm delighted that today's recruits have chosen to start their careers with Softcat."
