Insight's UK arm doubles services sales

'Improved execution' helps UK business post rise in revenues and profits for full-year 2015

One of the UK's largest resellers, Insight, enjoyed solid revenue and profit growth in its last financial year, accounts filed last week on Companies House reveal.

Insight Direct (UK) saw operating profit for the 12 months to 31 December 2015 inflate 49 per cent to £7.6m on revenues that rose three per cent to £437.9m.

Services sales almost doubled, albeit from a low base, growing from £4.6m to £9m year on year, with hardware sales rising three per cent to £270.2m and software sales inching up one per cent to £158.7m.

"This increase in revenue and the corresponding increase in gross profit were due to improved execution in the business," the directors' report stated.

With roughly 800 staff, Insight Direct (UK) is the main UK trading subsidiary for US-headquartered behemoth Insight Enterprises.

Its other UK trading arm, Insight Networking Solutions, has about 30 staff. For its fiscal 2015, it saw pre-tax profit fall from £3.8m to £2.3m on revenues that sank from £33.4m to £28m.

Taken together, the two companies still grew two per cent.

In its most recent quarter, Q2 ending 30 June 2016, Insight did, however, reference "softer" market conditions in the UK as a reason why its EMEA sales fell.

Overall, the NASDAQ-listed firm saw earnings from operations rise 35 per cent to $58.1m (£46.8m) on sales that grew two per cent to $1.46bn.
