Pure Data in talks over 11 potential acquisitions as it rebrands

VAR now known as The Pure Technology Group

The Pure Technology Group (TPTG) – formally known as Pure Data Group – is in talks about 11 possible acquisitions over the next three years, it has revealed following its rebrand.

Pure Data Group was the umbrella company for Pure Data Solutions and Servatech, and both companies remained separate entities. Under the rebrand, both companies will be rebranded as TPTG, with one identity and brand for the group.

Cliff Fox, COO at TPTG, said: "The problem was the different names and identities were causing confusion for customers dealing with both, so we wanted to unify it. It has been two years since the acquisition took place, so it is a good time to really unify it under one name."

Fox said one of the goals of the rebrand is to unify the operations of the two companies. He hopes this will create one customer base rather than the original two, which did not have much crossover.

He added that the rebrand is just one part of the company's growth strategy, which has involved hiring 14 new employees in the past nine months. This included hiring Gary Saunders as sales director in August.

"We are looking to grow our talent," Fox explained. "We have made some key hires recently and we are looking to increase that. It is about the right talent, from a commercial and technical perspective. We were at 74 and are now at 89 people. Acquisitions and organic growth will swell our numbers to about 150 in the next three years. We don't want to be the biggest company in the world. I think we have pretty modest, achievable ambitions."

Fox said that as well as wanting 150 employees in three years, the VAR has ambitions to bring in £40m revenues over the same period, doubling its current £20m revenues.

Acquisitions are a big part of TPTG's growth plans, with Fox saying there are around 11 potential acquisitions currently in discussions, with three or four of those near completion.

"The acquisition piece is very important to us. I think there is going to be much more activity in the cloud in the next 24 months, so I think acquisitions in this space will be important. We want to change our geography a bit as well, so a southern-based company might be of interest," he added.
