Trump looks to build bridges with tech giants
President-elect hosts the likes of Tim Cook, Satya Nadella and Chuck Robbins at New York headquarters
US president-elect Donald Trump has held out an olive branch to the tech industry after a meeting with industry leaders in New York.
Trump irked the tech industry during his presidential campaign, culminating in HPE boss Meg Whitman abandoning her republican loyalty and branding him a "dishonest demagogue".
Also in the run-up to his infamous victory, 100 industry leaders released an open letter pledging their support for Hillary Clinton.
Trump has now sought to build bridges with Silicon Valley, hosting the likes of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Cisco boss Chuck Robbins and Apple's Tim Cook at his New York headquarters.
"I'm here to help you folks do well," he said, according to the Wall Street Journal.
"We want you to keep going with the incredible innovation. Anything we can do to help this go along, we're going to be there for you.
"You call my people, you call me. It doesn't make any difference. We have no formal chain of command around here."
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos released a statement to Yahoo after the meeting, declaring it "very productive".
"I shared the view that the administration should make innovation one of its key pillars, which would create a huge number of jobs across the whole country, in all sectors, not just tech - agriculture, infrastructure, manufacturing - everywhere," he added.
