Comms-care to offer UK Surface customers alternative to Microsoft repair centre

Support services firm to provide range of enterprise services for Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book via network of UK partners

Comms-care has struck a deal to provide wrap-around services for Microsoft Surface devices into UK enterprises, via its partners.

The channel-only services outfit will offer a range of design, installation and support services around the Surface Pro 4 (pictured) and Surface Book, including four-hour swap outs.

The idea is to trump the current support offering of Microsoft itself, which offers a five-day return-to-base repair service.

The services will be delivered via Ingram Micro-owned Comms-care's channel partners from this month.

In Microsoft's most recently reported quarter, Surface sales rose 38 per cent year on year to $253m, mainly driven by a higher mix of premium devices. Rumours that the Surface Pro 5 will launch in March are building.

On the design side, Comms-care says it can build a master image for Surface tablets, including a set of defined applications that can be deployed on devices before they are shipped.

Comms-care will also now hold stock, meaning customers have the option of returning broken devices to the services outfit instead of Microsoft.

Comms-care said it will offer return times varying between four-hour swap outs from Monday to Friday to a 24/7 service.

It will also offer off-the-shelf and customisable installation services.

In a statement, Ryan Asdourian, Surface & Windows lead (pictured), Microsoft UK, commented: "Comms-Care has the infrastructure and skills to deliver enhanced services and support across our Surface range, ensuring our enterprise customers have the design, installation and support services that best fit their organisation's needs."
