Coretx pursues perfect ten for apprenticeship push

Managed services provider launches apprenticeship scheme

Managed services outfit Coretx has launched an IT apprenticeship programme which will hothouse 10 newbies in its first year.

The initial batch of apprentices will be picked at an open day at Coretx's head office on 1 February.

They will then join the AIM-listed firm full time, with eight of them working towards becoming accredited infrastructure technicians and two working towards an IT applications specialist accreditation.

The roles will be located in cities across the UK, including London, Reading and Manchester.

The scheme's launch come after Apprenticeship and Skills Minister Robert Halfon declared that the UK was "well on its way" to becoming a ‘apprenticeship nation', and Microsoft announced a drive to deliver 30,000 more apprenticeships by 2020.

Although there are no guarantees, the Coretx apprentices could be offered permanent roles after 12 months, said the firm, which set itself the goal of becoming a £100m midmarket cloud and IT managed services player last year before its rebrand.

Andy Ross, CEO of Coretx, said: "I'm really looking forward to our assessment day. As a responsible employer, we're committed to supporting young people in communities where we're based by creating entry-level opportunities and teaching them the skills they need to succeed."

"To be selected for the scheme, candidates will need to demonstrate a positive attitude to life. Individuals who work with us must be enthusiastic about providing great customer service. The scheme itself will provide them with the technical skills they'll need to work effectively in a technical environment. Through their own merit and the training we provide, they'll be well on their way to developing a successful IT career."
