£25m IT services deal up for grabs

Gun fired for procurement for Dounreay site

A company entrusted with closing former nuclear sites has fired the gun on a £25m IT services framework.

A Prior Information Notice (PIN) for the Dounreay Site Restoration Limited (DSRL) was published this week. The company, which is responsible for cleaning up and demolishing Britain's former centres of nuclear research and development, had launched an open-market consultation for the procurement of ICT services. The deal will be worth £25.5m over a five-year period, says the PIN.

"DSRL has a requirement for ICT services including desktop support, network, infrastructure and telephony across its site," the PIN reads. "There are approximately 1,500 end users, with plans to complete projects and potentially reduce the number of end users over the contract period.

"DSRL currently operates a standard Windows server/Windows 7 Desktop platform with central hosting, MPLS WAN with traditional telephony. The precise scope and duration of the services will be finalised following supplier engagement activities."

DSRL is planning to award the contract in Q1 next year, with a go-live date pencilled in for October 2018.

Currently DSRL is planning to award the contract in quarter one of 2018 with a go-live date of October 2018. The proposed length of the contract is five years in addition to the transition period.
