Apogee considers redundancies at newly acquired Danwood
Local reports claim over 200 jobs are at risk as Apogee mulls office closures
Managing printing provider Apogee is considering closing three of recently acquired Danwood's branches, putting over 200 jobs at risk in the process, according to local reports.
Apogee acquired Danwood earlier this month, adding to a string of print acquisitions the firm has made since securing private-equity backing last year.
Reports by local press have now claimed that Apogee is considering closing three of Danwood's four Lincoln offices, with over 200 staff facing possible redundancy.
Lincolnshire Live claimed to have been told different figures from difference sources - with one claiming around half of Danwood's 300 employees are facing the chop, and another claiming the number stands at around 239.
Rumours of office closures were reported by Lincolnshire Business, attributing the claims to a member of Danwood's staff.
Apogee declined to comment, but CRN understands that the firm launched a strategic review of the struggling Danwood business as soon as the acquisition completed.
It is understood that on Monday this week employees were informed of a number of proposals, with no final decision made yet.
It's no secret that Danwood was struggling financial prior to the acquisition, with revenue down in their most recent financial, making it likely that Apogee would cut costs.
