Irish reseller EMIT snaps up fellow Dublin firm
EMIT on the hunt for further acquisition as it expands MSP offering
Irish reseller EMIT has acquired fellow Dublin MSP Softech to expand its services capabilities.
EMIT focuses on providing cloud, security and infrastructure to its client base and managing director Eamon Moore said the acquisition of Softech will improve its capabilities in these areas, bumping its revenue up €2m over the next two years.
"We're always on the lookout for acquisitions and we've certainly looked at a few over the last couple of year which didn't proceed," he said. "There was a good fit here in terms of how long Softech have been around. They were originally founded in the late 70s, and they've gone through some transitions themselves in terms of offering managed services.
"They've got a lot of infrastructure-based managed services and we felt it was a real fit for us to have a complete offering for our client base, whether infrastructure led or cloud led.
"We're seeing more now that hybrid approach that clients are looking for in terms of infrastructure so we feel that there is a good play here to strengthen that offering so we can meet all needs of the clients we come across."
Aidan Bailey, director at Softech, said the MSP had met with numerous firms interested in acquiring the company, but that the decision to do business with EMIT was the most suitable.
"After meeting and assessing several companies, I am fully confident that EMIT is the best IT partner to look after the needs of our valued customer base," he said.
"I pass on the business to EMIT knowing that it will meet the same very high standards of professional service that our customers have experienced during their time with Softech."
Future acquisitions
Moore said that EMIT is on the lookout for more acquisitions, specifically looking at resellers that are aware that they need to shift away from traditional channel models, but are unsure how to make this journey themselves.
EMIT recently underwent an overhaul of its own business, slashing its vendor partners down to just Microsoft, Dell and SonicWall after Dell sold its software group.
"There will be a lot of IT partners who are looking at doing that transition from traditional IT provider into a new-age managed service provider," he said.
"There are some that, depending on where they are in that process, may not be best placed or as equipped to make that transition.
"They are organisations we'd like to talk to."
