Mirus IT grabs 2r Systems for managed print push

Acquisition propels MSP's turnover to nearly £10m and headcount to above 100

Managed services provider Mirus IT has vaulted into the managed print space by acquiring local peer 2r Systems.

The purchase, Mirus IT's fourth since it was founded in 2002, propels the Milton Keynes-based MSP's revenues to close to £10m, and its headcount past 100.

Leighton Buzzard-based 2r Systems has five staff and partners with the likes of Ricoh, Olivetti and Konica Minolta. The two firms have partnered together for five years.

Mirus IT managing director Paul Tomlinson (pictured) said buying a copier and print specialist, rather than an IT company, will open up potent cross-sell opportunities.

2r has 495 customers who could potentially now use Mirus for IT and telephony services, said Tomlinson, who also estimated that Mirus has about 250 clients potentially open to buying managed print.

"This is a new profitable service we can sell our customers," Tomlinson said.

Tomlinson added that 2r has "very high" recurring revenue in the business, in line with Mirus' goal of reach £15m turnover by 2021, with 75 per cent of the total being recurring.

2r's MD, Richard Finch, will be staying on, Tomlinson added.

This is Mirus' fourth acquisition since Tomlinson founded it in 2002 aged 25, although the previous three have been much smaller. It now has 103 staff and 20,000 users.
