Crayon adds colour to Microsoft around GDPR

Microsoft partner is billing its new GDPR Governance Service as a 'comprehensive GDPR management and risk mitigation solution'

Microsoft partner Crayon has added GDPR compliance services to its repertoire, claiming it is a natural extension to its heritage in software asset management (SAM).

At Microsoft's Inspire partner event in Washington DC this week, Crayon was unveiled as a Microsoft partner offering GDPR compliance services based on Microsoft technology, alongside Accenture and Ernst and Young.

Crayon is billing its new GDPR Governance Service as a "comprehensive GDPR management and risk mitigation solution".

It is designed to assist businesses consuming Microsoft solutions on their strategy when it comes to complying with GDPR, which comes into force next May.

The extent to which the channel should offer guidance on GDPR has been hotly debated in recent weeks, with some resellers admitting they are seeking legal advice on what they can and cannot say to customers.

The new regulations will see firms fined up to €20m, or four per cent of global turnover, for the most serious breaches.

Crayon Group CEO Torgrim Takle said: "By providing businesses with detailed insight into areas of risk and risk mitigation in relation to their IT environments, Crayon's team of GDPR experts can help make the road to GDPR compliance a smooth journey.

"However, GDPR compliance should be part of an overall governance strategy and not seen as an end in itself. We believe cloud services, such as Azure, can offer a more streamlined way for customers to meet their GDPR compliance obligations."
