Dell launches world's first wireless charging laptop

Two-in-one device needs additional purchases of wireless charging keyboard and wireless charging mat

Dell has released the world's first laptop capable of being charged wirelessly.

The Latitude 7285 is priced at $1,199 (£930) and comes as a mobile device, with optional keyboards sold as accessories. The wireless-charging keyboard is an additional $379.99 on top of the base price, with the wireless charging mat (pictured) a further $199.99. The pair, both needed to charge the device wirelessly, can be purchased together for $549.99.

"[The Latitude 7285] features a premium tablet and detachable keyboard design that is ideal for mobile professionals demanding the thinnest, lightest detachable two-in-one mobile device without sacrificing security and meeting critical business requirements such as on-site device serviceability," Dell claimed.

"When combined with a charging mat… users can quickly remove the two-in-one from the mat without the need to unplug any cables, and easily return it to the mat to automatically recharge and connect to additional wireless peripherals such as a display, wireless keyboard and mouse."

Alongside the device Dell launched a further two detachable products, which it claims give businesses a "PC first, tablet second" experience.

All the devices run on the Windows operating system and Intel Core vPro processors.
