Oracle to hire 1,000 new EMEA staff this year
Software giant plans expansive recruitment drive to aid cloud business
Software giant Oracle will fill 1000 new positions within its EMEA sales team by the end of the year.
Oracle is hunting for sales, marketing, supply chain, finance, recruitment and human resources talent to join its EMEA operations. Oracle will especially look for sales candidates who are able to push its IaaS, PaaS and SaaS cloud portfolio.
The Californian-based vendor is looking for graduate-level candidates with around two to six years work experience.
Tino Scholman, VP of Oracle Cloud in EMEA, said: "Our cloud business is growing at incredible rates, so now is the right time to bring in a new generation of talent to our company. We are looking to hire relationship focused people who are self-motivated and smart, who thrive for business transformation for our customers and love delivering great results."
The recruitment drive comes after a Q4 for the software vendor which saw cloud revenues surge by 66 per cent year over year to $1.4bn. SaaS sales rocketed by 76 per cent to $1bn, while IaaS and PaaS accumulatively accounted for $403m, up 45 per cent, for the quarter.
Although experiencing inferior growth to its SaaS counterpart, Oracle's founder Larry Ellison predicted that IaaS and PaaS sales will eventually overtake software sales after a period of "hyper-growth" forecasted for fiscal 2018.
Oracle has remained vocal about its commitment to ramping up its cloud offering. In September last year during its Oracle OpenWorld event in San Francisco, Ellison told attendees that "Amazon's lead is over" in the race for cloud dominance, as he announced plans for the firm to move aggressively in the IaaS space.
