SCC lauds 'exceptional year' as UK business posts record earnings
Reseller announces FY17 results and unveils what is driving its bottom line
An expanding services business in the UK has driven the profits of reseller SCC.
Posting its 2017 financial year results, SCC had £1.7bn in turnover, up 8.7 per cent across EMEA, while operating profit (EBIT) was up 39 per cent to £25m in the region.
The firm particularly flourished in the UK, where it claimed record earnings before interest and tax of £17.2m. The key to such growth was its UK services business, which was up 10 per cent in turnover to £194m.
UK datacentre services revenues were also up 29 per cent to £56m, meaning SCC's services business now represents over 31 per cent of UK revenues.
SCC claimed its three-year plan is to grow a services business across cloud, datacentre services, managed services and managed print.
"We've had an exceptional year to close off our three-year plan of building a more agile and focused business delivering the very best services to our customers," said SCC chief executive James Rigby.
"Our future is as an IT services business, delivering solutions around data, cloud and cognitive computing supported by our next-generation global delivery centres across the world.
"Growth through our services business will continue as this gives us recurring revenues that enable us to invest in the right areas."
SCC opened a global delivery centre in Vietnam earlier this year, to complement its near-shore customer support operations in Romania.
