Public sector wins flow after "major achievement" of ISO 9001 accreditation

Millgate is anticipating hitting £55m in turnover for 2017 after achieving ISO 9001 accreditation and landing $4m of public sector contracts.

The Sheffield-based firm was able to join the Crown Commercial Supplier framework after gaining the accreditation, enabling it to bid on public sector work.

"The ISO 9001 was a huge achievement for Millgate and [we were] rigorously tested us on our customer care and service consistency principles," Chris Calvert, managing director of Millgate told CRN.

"We invested a large amount of resources and the process required hundreds of changes across the service including hiring a quality manager, training every employee, process mapping, improved platforms and an increased customer care and problem escalation process."

Calvert said the ISO 9001 was instrumental in winning the increased public sector contact work, allowing it to submit tenders and re-enforcing its reputation with existing public sector clients.

"This has led to more than £4million worth of public sector contracts this year including a £1.5million pound order which is Millgate's single largest order to date," he said.

Calvert said Millgate now has a turnover target of £55m for 2017, a 16 per cent increase from last year.

"Our next aim is on doubling our turnover within the next three years, giving us a 2018 aim of growing by 25 per cent. Part of our plan to achieve this goal is to increase our internal staff training and staff investment to enable us to assist clients with larger and more complex projects," added Calvert.

"Despite high growth we have managed to keep Millgate flexible to move with our fast-paced industry and we want to adhere to this model to ensure we can continue offering the latest and best solutions to our clients."
