Open Stack cloud provider DataCentred hits the wall

15 staff kept on as buyer sought for Media City-based cloud services provider

Buyers for Salford-based cloud services provider DataCentred are being sought after the firm went out of business.

Having traded since 2013, DataCentred received a £1m funding package last year, but appointed FRP Advisory as administrator on 22 August after failing to turn a profit.

FRP Advisory, which is handling the adminstration, said the business was not viable in its current form, despite some notable client wins - although its 15 staff are being kept on while it hunts potential suitors.

Based Media City, DataCentred provides public and private cloud, based on open source cloud platform OpenStack.

Anthony Collier, partner at FRP Advisory, and joint administrator, said: "Over its four year trading history, DataCentred has earned a well-deserved reputation for its expertise and has supported a significant network of clients. We are marketing the business and assets for sale and we encourage any interested parties to make early contact."
