Eleven resellers bag spot on £440m IT framework
NDNA framework sees partners sell desktops and notebooks from the likes of Acer, HP and Lenovo - while Dell opts to go direct
Eleven resellers have been awarded a place on a higher education framework worth up to £440m.
The National Desktop and Notebook Agreement (NDNA) went live on Friday, with resellers awarded spots as indirect partners for a host of PC vendors.
The four-year agreement - managed by London Universities Purchasing Consortium - will see the likes of Academia, DTP and Misco provide desktops and mobile devices from Acer, Fujitsu, HP Inc, Lenovo and Toshiba.
Dell is also on the framework, but with no reseller partners, will take all its business direct.
The 11 resellers on the framework are: Academia, Bechtle, CDW, DTP, European Electronique, Getech, Insight, Misco, SCC, Stone and XMA.
Stone Computers will also supply its own devices direct to customers, while XMA will supply its Viglen brand.
Acer, Fujitsu, Lenovo and Toshiba will not sell their products direct.
A full list of suppliers, as published on the Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium website, can be found below.
The framework is broken up into three lots: Lot 1 is for desktops, Lot 2 is for notebooks and mobile devices, while Lot 3 is a "one-stop shop" for both categories.
With an estimated value of between £400m and £440m, the framework dwarfs its predecessor which was valued at around £310m.
Changes among the vendor cohort see Samsung no longer on the framework, while Fujitsu is brought in on Lot 2.
Softcat is a notable reseller absentee, having previously been in all three Lots with Dell and Lenovo.
Mike Bacon, CEO at Academia, told CRN that the reseller's spot as an HP partner on the framework symbolises a broadening of its offering.
"Strategically for us it's nice to extend the portfolio. We do a lot of Apple kit so it's nice to have a broader portfolio which a lot of our university customers want to buy from us," he said.
"HP is our fastest-growing partner - it's not our biggest partner because that's still Apple - but it's the biggest in terms of speed of growth.
"While we're comfortable with frameworks, this is the first time we've been on NDNA as a PC supplier. We've been on it with Toshiba for notebooks before but we stepped down from that because it wasn't really working for us.
"It's good news and it's a bit more of what we do already. We've recruited some specialist HP guys in advance of that so it's nice to get a place."
