£87m Apple reseller put up for sale - report

Potential suitors reportedly being hunted for the top 50 VAR, with a sale possible this year

Jigsaw24 will reportedly be sold with the firm's owners looking for potential suitors for the major Apple reseller.

The Telegraph has reported that private equity group NorthEdge Capital is seeking a buyer for the Nottingham-based firm that was ranked 34th in CRN's Top VARs rundown, with a 2016 turnover of £86.9m.

The report claimed NorthEdge Capital, which bought a majority stake in Jigsaw24 in 2013, has hired Clearwater Corporate Finance to approach buyers for the business.

The Telegraph report concluded that a deal is expected to be announced at the end of this year or early next, with the paper's sources insisting the move was not linked to concerns that people had reached "peak phone" consumption.

Jigsaw24, one of Britian's largest Apple resellers, has major clients including Channel 4, BBC Sport and News UK.

Alex Tatham, managing director of Apple distributor Westcoast, told CRN: "We are one of Jigsaw24's suppliers and they are an excellent business. They have a great team led by Martin [Balaam] and Roger [Whittle] and if they are selling it must be for a very good reason."

CRN has contacted Jigsaw24 for comment.
